This is an ongoing list of differences for typing — which I want to collect — so if you come to a later point, you will see more points added.

How to copy/paste/cut?

It is not Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v , Ctrl-x , but instead:
CMD-c, CMD-v, CMD-x.

How can I type a tilde~ instead of ˜?

Coming from Linux, I expect the ~ to be below the esc key.
Some sources say it is the options key with N where options is .
It is however SHIFT+ the-key-left-from-Z in the US keyboard.

How to type @ ?

US Keyboard: Shift-2

German Keyboard: Option-L

Swiss German Keyboard: Option-G

How to pin an app on Dock?

When opened an app and you think you will often need to access it and want it to appear on the Dock so that you have only to click on it when starting your computer, pin it on the dock:
Press Ctrl and click on the App symbol on the dock > Options > Keep in Dock — Voila! It will stay there.

Unselect from Dock by selecting “Remove from Dock”

Press Ctrl and click on the App symbol on the dock > Options > “Remove from Dock”.

How to get to System Settings?
