How to Capture and Embed a GIF in Your Blog Using a MacBook Pro or Linux

Creating and embedding a GIF to illustrate a procedure on your blog can greatly enhance your content. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this using a MacBook Pro or a Linux system.

For MacBook Pro Users:

1. Record Your Screen with QuickTime Player

  1. Open QuickTime Player: Spotlight search (Cmd + Space) > select Quick Time Player
  2. Start a New Screen Recording: Go to File > New Screen Recording> or the shortcut Ctrl-Option-Cmd-nClick the red record button and select the screen area to be recorded.
  3. Execute in this area all what you want to record.
  4. Stop the Recording: Click the stop button in the menu bar or press Cmd + Ctrl + Esc.

2. Convert the Recording to a GIF

  1. Download GIPHY Capture: Available from the Mac App Store.
  2. Record and Save the GIF:
  • Trim and edit as needed, then save the GIF.

3. Embed the GIF in Your Blog

  1. Upload the GIF: Use an image hosting service like GIPHY or Imgur, or upload directly to Medium.
  2. Insert the GIF in
